Description
For sale is aJapanese late EDO era
handcrafted bronze or copper alloy and wood candlestand
in good overall condition.
The candlestand
is about 50cm (19 11/16") high
and
43.5cm (17 1/8") long after it is repaired. I
t weighs 2695 grams
.
The
candlestand has nicks, marks, scuffs, 1
broken
candle holder (photos),
repairs (photos),
patina wear, dust, etc..
We bought the candlestand at an auction and were told it was used for dedication. For what or whom we do not know.
The candlestand may have been used to show the dedication of the followers to a temple, shrine, religion, etc..
The handcrafted bronze or copper alloy part of the candlestand is
hand hammered. The base is natural wood.
The Japanese late Edo era (1603-1867)
